Financial Analyst - BICI USA (Santa Clara)

JOB Duties:

·         Perform quantitative and qualitative industry analysis on specific verticals and technical fields. Related work includes data collection and analysis, interview with management of subject companies and industry experts, industry analysis, and financial statement analysis;

·         Perform due diligence of potential investments. Related work includes analysis of product and services, valuation analysis, risk analysis, SWOT analysis, Porter's Five Forces Analysis;

·         Prepare investment recommendation report;

·         Assist in all aspects of the investment process including: sourcing, analysis, valuation and transaction management;

·         Work and cooperate with lawyers, accountants, and consultants;

·         Conduct ad-hoc analysis as requested by management.


JOB REQUIREMENT: 

Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance & Risk Analytics/Finance/Related. 

Must have advanced knowledge (gained from academic coursework, research project, teaching assistantship, or practical training through internship or co-op) of: due diligence investigation, financial modeling/computation, asset valuation, portfolio and risk management. Must also have strong computer skills in the software, such as MATLAB and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

BICI is seeking experienced research scientists/engineers/technical professionals in BICI’s key sectors to work alongside our talented teams and partners or to conduct independent research. The goal is to bring disruptive technologies into market.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Lead research projects independently or establish collaborative projects with world-leading scientists. Conduct pilot studies and scale-up translational works for advanced technologies with market potential. Create high-impact and top-quality works;
  • Explore, propose, and manage translational research projects;
  • Provide guidance and lecture for graduate students on research and academic writing. Cultivate talents in innovation and entrepreneurship;
  • Establish close ties with academia and industry, domestically and internationally. Gather resources for talent training, scientific research and technology commercialization.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Possess a doctorate degree, have an educational and working background in one of the following technical fields:
    • Optoelectronic technology (laser light source, optical sensing technology, micro-nano devices and systems, flexible sensing and display devices, etc.)
    • Materials engineering (advanced structural materials, functional materials, energy materials, optoelectronic materials, etc.)
    • Medical devices and biomedicine (biomedical imaging, interventional medical devices, small molecule drugs, advanced biologics, etc.)
    • Intelligent manufacturing (industrial software, intelligent equipment, digital manufacturing technology, etc.)
    • Environmental engineering (environmental monitoring and detection technology, water environment pollution control technology, circular economy, etc.) 
  • Good understanding and sensitivity of technological frontiers and trends. Have broad knowledge across disciplines with an innovative mind.


Desirable Qualifications/Experience

  • Participated in large research projects as a core researcher, with considerable achievements in the field of applied research. 
  • Experience in technology transfer process, including R&D, translation and industrialization is preferred.

Job description
BICI USA is seeking multiple experienced technical professionals/engineers in medical devices, materials industry to work alongside our talented teams and partners and manage our portfolio projects. The goal is to identify and incubate technologies with true market needs, manage existing portfolio projects, and accelerate the commercialization process.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Analyze market needs and technology trends, source deals, initiate collaboration projects in focused areas;
  • Conduct market and technical due diligence, prepare detailed reviews and extensive investment recommendation reports;
  • Manage funded projects by communicating with the project teams on a regular basis, prepare monthly status reports, and conduct milestone checks;
  • Collaborate closely with US and international teams as well as external partners including professors and industry experts, to assist research groups/startup companies in solving technical problems;
  • Validate commercialization paths and provide guidance to early-stage technologies to facilitate technology transfer and help establish start-up companies.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Master or Ph.D. degree in material science, biomedical engineering, physics, or related disciplines;
  • Preferred but not required: 5 years of working experience in product development or translational research;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to present clear and concise recommendations to senior management;
  • Bilingual (Chinese/English);
  • Critical thinker;
  • 5-15% travel required.
